Always on the move!

It really is starting to feel like fall here though its still been in the 60's for the most part the mornings and evenings are much cooler. Colt loves to go outside and ride his motorcycle around.

Notice his camo rain boots, those were a gift from my Aunt Debbie for his first birthday and they had been over at my parents house and Colt would wear them when he would play outside over there. Last time we were there he wanted to bring them home and now he pretty much wears them non-stop. I think he likes them because he can put them on himself, though he usually puts them on the wrong feet.

 He gets going and then picks his feet up and zooms down the driveway into the road in our culdesac.

Colt is exhausting to keep up with right now, he just goes and goes and goes. Its nonstop all day long, he does take a nap for about 1.5-2 hours everyday and then he is usually in bed about 8 but he is still waking up almost every morning before 6. I am tired, tired, tired. Especially because Colt usually wakes up at least once a night and comes in wanting to sleep with us (we just put him back in bed) and then Jax still does wake up occasionally around 3:00 to eat as well. I have tried to let Jax cry it out because I know he can sleep longer but he usually just cries and cries for an hour and then I just give up and give him what he wants.

I told Colt lunch was ready and when I came back in to give him his water he had grabbed Jax's bumbo seat and climbed into it.

I even got him to give me a quick grin.

I can't believe how much he loves to eat right now. It is not so much that he eats alot rather that he eats pretty much anything we give him. For example, tonight I made chicken yakisoba with vegetables for dinner and we had egg rolls as well. He ate almost all the chicken yakisoba (and even some of the veggies) and had half an egg roll. The other day I made him egg on toast for breakfast and he ate the entire thing. Dave made us banana pancakes for our Sunday breakfast and he ate 7 of them (they were smaller pancakes but still). I would say his favorite type of food is probably fruit, he could eat that all day long (bananas, oranges, apples, pears, grapes, etc..) and he also loves the frozen gogurts. He knows how to open the freezer now and he is constantly going in and trying to get another gogurt out of the freezer. I keep having to remind him that he needs to ask mommy first!  Dave got two huge boxes of apples for free so we have been trying to come up with ways to use them before they go bad. We have been putting them in our dryer and making dried apples, I made homemade applesauce, Dave made homemade granola bars with apples and raisens in them (they are to die for, the best granola bars I have ever tested.....the crazy thing is he did not use a recipe, he just came up with the ingredients and made them and they are delicious and super healthy!!), I am going to try and make some apple butter as well. Colt loves to help with all of it and likes to pick the stickers off the apples so that we can put the apples in the apple peeler/slicer. For the most part Colt eats whatever I make for dinner that night, he does not get a separate meal unless I make something really spicy and then I try to modify it so he can eat it too. It is nice to be able to sit down every evening as a family and eat together, I am enjoying cooking for the first time in my life (probably has something to do with the fact that I have time to come up with menus and grocery shop for the food each week....this stay at home mom thing is really nice!!).

Colt has an OBSESSION right now with shoes.

He loves to put his shoes, my shoes, Dave's shoes, etc....on his feet all day long. My Aunt Debbie gave him a pair of camo rain boots for his first birthday and they fit really well this year, he wants to wear them everywhere!! I got him a new pair of tennis shoes recently and he decided that Jax needed to try them on.

Colt was very proud of being able to do it himself and I think Jax liked it too. He kept smiling and laughing at Colt the entire time.

I had a long talk with the doctor about all these flu shots and the H1N1 vaccine. She strongly suggested that both Dave and I as well as Colt get both of them. If anything to protect Jax from getting it since he is too little to have the flu shot yet. I was already planning on getting one myself and had decided to go ahead and have Colt get both of them. Dave said he was not interested but when I told him it was for Jax he agreed to do it as well. Besides that Jax is doing fine, he is about 1.5 pounds and 1 inch smaller than Colt at this age but he is growing alot, he grew almost 3 inches from his 2 month appointment and gained 2 pounds. He also had to get his shots which is always sad but he did fine for the most part. Both him and Colt are sleeping right now. Colt has a nasty cough and horrible runny nose, I am hoping that Jax does not get it. I can't believe he is already 4 months old, I am looking forward to seeing how his personality starts to develop in the next couple months. So far he is very laid back, smiley, happy baby who loves to talk to you and giggle. He is also a snuggler and loves to snuggle on my chest even when he is awake, I am hoping that does not change anytime soon.

The good news is that both of my boys do not mind getting bundled up for morning runs and I love how this little blue bunting outfit makes there eyes sooooo blue.

Di Di's Birthday

My mom's birthday was today. I took the boys to her classroom this morning as a surprise and brought her a Dutch Bros. coffee (her favorite). Since it was raining the kids had indoor recess and Colt had so much fun running around her classroom and giving her students high fives.

 

We went over to my parents for dinner that night. My dad made salmon that was to die for....so yummy! I made a bruschetta appetizer and my grandma made a yummy squash. After dinner we had the most delicious chocolate cake that I had made (twice). The first time I got one of the pans too full and it overflowed all over my oven. I had to make it again the next day but it was well worth it. My mom loved it!

Jax meets Great Grandma Milly

My grandma is here for a couple weeks staying with my parents. She got to meet Jax for the first time today. The last time I saw her I was about 5 days from giving birth and now Jax is 4 months old. He had no problem snuggling right in on her lap.

Colt's Favorites

Sunday morning pancakes. 

Dave makes them and they are the best pancakes ever. Don't even ask me what is in them because I have no clue but these are not your average Bisquick pancakes! Dave always makes fun faces for Colt and Colt has his own special monkey pancake turner that he gets out to "help" Dave make the pancakes. I love to watch the two of them together in the kitchen every Sunday before church.

Notice Dave's bike shoes on his feet. Everytime he rides his bike he insists on wearing bike shoes since that is what Daddy does.

 

Bats, Bats and more Bats

He drives me crazy always playing with his baseball bats. His newest thing is to put them up the stairs like this so I am constantly having to walk carefully down the stairs so I do not trip on one and go falling down the stairs. I have no idea why one 2 year old needs 8 baseball bats but for some reason that is how many we have laying around the house (and 2 golf clubs which might as well be a bat!).

Family Photos

We had family pictures taken last week along with Colt's 2 year and Jax's 4 month pictures. Megan Borders of Twinkletoes Photography took them and she did an amazing job. Both the kids were in great moods and we got some fun shots. I am not including my favorite family photo (all 4 of us are smiling!!) because it will be our Christmas photo and I know a lot of people that read my blog our also the same people that I send Christmas cards. This is the first time since Dave and I got married that we have had professional pictures taken, I am looking forward to putting them up in our home!
