Colt is 8!!!

How great to be EIGHT!!!!
Today Colt turns 8, looking at this picture makes me so much more aware of just how old he really is. Gone are the days of me picking him up, carrying him around or wrestling and tickling him to the ground. Now he can almost pick me up and has no problem matching me in wrestling (not that I try that much, I leave the wrestling to Dave). But in its place I have found a joy that I didn't realize in having an older son. I love going on bike rides with him where he opens up and really talks to me, I love reading with him (and to him) in the evenings, I love playing catch with a football and playing a game of basketball with him. He is starting to enjoy trying different sports and activities and I look forward to seeing what he really falls in love with as he gets older. 8 years has gone by in a flash and Colt has been the best big brother to his 3 siblings that I could have ever asked God for. He is kind and sensitive (but don't worry he can also be ornery and rough with his brothers so he is definitely a normal 8 year old boy!) and seems to have a big heart for animals and his baby sister. He loves the outdoors, fishing, shooting his bow and talks a lot about his first deer that he will kill someday. He finished 1st grade and will enter the 2nd in the fall. He had a great year and loved his teacher though like many kids he is so happy that it is summer!
I decorated the table the night before so it was all ready for his birthday. I thought I was being sneaky by putting money in all those balloons but he noticed right away!

Typical picture, happy boys, unhappy baby sister.
Colt said "mom can we just take a picture without her crying in it!"
Colt's 2nd cousin Harrison is here for the week from Boise. These two have been buddies since they were 6 months old and have a great time together.
Bread dough pudding ready to go in the oven for the traditional birthday breakfast!
After a day spent at the splash pad, swimming in the pool and Subway for lunch we had a small birthday party for Colt tonight.
 8 is GREAT!

Memah and Popee joined us for the fun!

After opening all his presents which were filled with lots of legos and a Denver football helmet and outfit the brothers proceeded to get in their gear as well and even posed for a picture.
We have a Seahawks, a Colts and a Broncos fan!
Halfway through the day Colt came up to me and gave me the biggest hug and said I love you mom thanks for the presents and making my birthday fun. What a great day. I love birthdays and this one was no different.
Happy Birthday Colt! I love you buddy and am so so so thankful for you every single day. I am so proud of the kid you are and the person you are becoming.

Summer = pool time

Dave got the kids their own pool for the summer. I think I may like it more than they do. It keeps them entertained all day long. With the temperatures reaching over 100 degrees it is saving us right now!

Colbi preferred the bucket for the first few days but now that the water has warmed up she loves the pool as much as the boys do.

We took a trip out to the Milton Freewater pool a few times this past week.

Besides swimming the boys also enjoyed the snack station.

Randee and Aaron's wedding

Randee and Aaron were married today in Spokane. These are all pictures from the rehearsal and the wedding day. All the kids and myself were in the wedding. It was a busy day and the wedding was at 7:30 at night. Colbi made it down the aisle but she had a rough day, no naps and a couple late nights made it no fun for her or me! The boys did awesome though and were so well behaved and fun to have around.

Weekend at Brownlee

We escaped the heat and headed to our favorite place on Earth this past weekend....Brownlee Reservoir! Dave's cousin Tim and his family met us there. We had one awesome weekend. The fishing was amazing, the weather beautiful and the kids spent a lot of time swimming and playing hard.
This girl was one happy girl this weekend. She was great about wearing her life jacket wherever we took her and pretty much just wanted in on the action.

The first of many many many fish for the boys.

Oh Colbi and her early morning attitude. Such a joy.
I guess she did not want to smile for the camera.
 Unhooking another fish.
Harry holding the carp that Dave caught.

Cleaning, cleaning and cleaning. Lots of crappie which resulted in some delicious fish tacos!

We found her with the licorice tub chowing down.

 Harry keeping Colbi entertained.
A definite sign of a good weekend! Brownlee we will be back!
