Trick-or-Treat

Happy Halloween!! Colt and Jax both went as Harley bikers this year.

My little sister even dressed up as a 50's girl. My mom made the skirt and I may have to steal it from her for a future Halloween. I think from now on I may dress up with the boys. It was so fun to see Colt love the holiday so much and really get into it this year.

Harley Baby

Colt loved trick-or-treating. We went with his cousins Madelyn, Elena, and Lucy and Marni took him from house to house getting candy. He would say "trick-or-treat" then "thank you" then he would turn back towards the street and yell at Marni "next house?" and he continued that over and over again. Marni would pick him up and run with him to each house so they could get as much candy as possible. He had a ball and was on a sugar high all evening. I pretty much let him eat whatever he wanted for this Halloween and then I gave all his leftover candy to Elena at the end of the night.

Boise Pumpkin Patch

We are in Boise for the next week while Dave is elk hunting and the boys and I are spending some time with my sisters and nieces. After a nice long run this morning, Marni decided to take us to a fun pumpkin patch in Boise. They had tons of stuff to do! Riding on the cow train, playing in a corn box, walking through the corn maze, going on a hay ride, watching pig races, a bounce house and lots of animals to look at.  Colt had a great time, finishing his fun time off with a hotdog and then fell asleep the minute we got in the car to head back to Marni's.

Happy Halloween

My mom got the boys Halloween pajamas this year.
I was so happy that Colt cooperated enough to get a picture with Jax and they are both smiling!

Colt is sooooo excited for Halloween. He keeps saying to me  "mommy tomorrow when we wake up we get to eat lots of candy, right?" He has been running around the house saying "trick-or-treat", we will see if he can perform when it comes time to say it. We are in Boise for the week so we will be going out with Colt's cousins for Halloween.

Jax of course has no clue what Halloween is but I am excited to dress him and Colt up in there costumes and take pictures. I will be sure to post lots of pictures since I know there are two sad grandmas out there that don't get to see them dressed up this year.

Dave's First Deer

After listening to his wife complain for the last 3 years about going deer hunting and never bringing home a deer my husband finally did it. No longer will I be able to complain about him never bringing home food (well I should not say never, he is always bringing home fresh steel-head, salmon, pheasants and chuckers!) Dave and my dad went hunting yesterday morning and Dave shot his first deer. We were all very excited! Colt was a little unsure and did not want to touch the deer at all but he proudly talked about it the rest of the day. This morning he walked into our room at 5am and said "mommy, wake up I want to go see the deer".

This is just the beginning of Dave's hunting for the year. He has already been pheasant and chuckar hunting quite a few times (as well as spending a ton of time fishing!). He is going to Idaho to go elk hunting in a couple weeks and then to South Dakota to do some more deer hunting. With the money he is spending he better be bringing home some meat to make it worthwhile (no pressure honey!).

Klickers Pumpkin Patch

We went and got our flu shots this morning (everyone but Jax) and then I took the kids to our local pumpkin patch. Colt had a great time running around and checking out all the pumpkins. He ended up picking out 3 small pumpkins and 3 big ones that he insisted on carrying in the wagon back to the store so we could pay for them. We now have them displayed by our front door and everytime we come home Colt says "look mommy my punkins!"

Cuties......

......I know I am biased but they are both pretty cute!

Smiley, Smiley, Smiley

Have I mentioned that I love this little baby soooo much. He brightens up my day (and nights) and I cannot imagine life without him.

Look-alikes

I know I keep comparing pictures of my two boys but I can't get over how much they look alike. I know they both have there own look and you can tell them apart but there are so many similarities as well!

Bedtime.

Jax's bedtime routine starts right after dinner around 6:15 every night. He usually gets a bath which he loves, I don't even bother using the baby bath anymore because it is just a pain to take in and out of the tub when its Colt's turn to bathe so I just fill the tub a little bit and lay him down in it. He kicks his legs and smiles and giggles the entire time. He is such a smiley smiley baby, I just love it. After he is all clean and has his pajamas on I wrap him in a blanket and nurse him around 6:45, he usually ends up going to bed right after that about 7:15. He is a good sleeper but still has those nights where he wakes at 3 or so to eat, I have tried to let him cry it out and it has not worked so far so I usually just get up and feed him so I can get back to sleep sooner. Then he will sleep until 7:30 or 8, on the nights he doesn't wake up he sleeps until 6:30 or 7.

Colt usually gets his bath after I put Jax down for bed around 7:15, he always take a bubble bath because he knows where the bubbles are and the first thing he does when I tell him it is bath time is run to the cupboard, grab the bubble bath and put some in the tub. Lately he has been really into wearing his athletic shorts and just a t-shirt to bed ("like daddy" he always says). After he is all dressed he gives Dave a kiss good night and then we lay down in our bed and watch one short cartoon (about 5 minutes long) and then I put him to bed. He has to be covered with three blankets every night, his blue soft baby blanket goes first, then the puppy quilt that "Milly" (my grandma) made him and then the baby quilt that Di Di made him. He always asks for it in this order every night. Then we say his prayers, his most common request is to pray for Marni and Herc (Marni's dog) but other people get thrown in the mix depending on the night and who he has been around. Tonight we prayed for Marni, Herc, Milly, Haley (my Grandma's dog), and Papa. Last night it was Marni, Herc, Taylor and Daddy....it changes nightly. He usually goes down between 8 and 8:30 and for the most part will go right to sleep (again I say for the most part, some nights especially when he naps for too long he comes out of his room so many times Dave and I are at a loss of what to do!). Anyway, the bedtime routine basically takes up my entire evening. By the time I am done I am ready for bed myself but I would not trade it for anything in the world. Before long they will be doing it all themselves and I will be asking myself why they had to grow up so fast!

Always on the move!

It really is starting to feel like fall here though its still been in the 60's for the most part the mornings and evenings are much cooler. Colt loves to go outside and ride his motorcycle around.

Notice his camo rain boots, those were a gift from my Aunt Debbie for his first birthday and they had been over at my parents house and Colt would wear them when he would play outside over there. Last time we were there he wanted to bring them home and now he pretty much wears them non-stop. I think he likes them because he can put them on himself, though he usually puts them on the wrong feet.

He gets going and then picks his feet up and zooms down the driveway into the road in our culdesac.

Colt is exhausting to keep up with right now, he just goes and goes and goes. Its nonstop all day long, he does take a nap for about 1.5-2 hours everyday and then he is usually in bed about 8 but he is still waking up almost every morning before 6. I am tired, tired, tired. Especially because Colt usually wakes up at least once a night and comes in wanting to sleep with us (we just put him back in bed) and then Jax still does wake up occasionally around 3:00 to eat as well. I have tried to let Jax cry it out because I know he can sleep longer but he usually just cries and cries for an hour and then I just give up and give him what he wants.
