Pictures and Thoughts

Having a child has been the most amazing experience of my entire life. From the moment he came out and they put him on my stomach I fell instantly in love with this little person that I had only really known for a few seconds though I had carried him for the past 9 months. I thought that when I married Dave almost 4 years ago I would never be as happy as I was at that moment. When Colt came into this world it equally matched the way I felt on our wedding day only with even more emotion. To turn and see your husband with tears in his eyes as he looks at his son for the first time was a moment that I wish I could capture in time. After they cleaned him off and checked him out they put him on my chest skin to skin. He looked up at me with these huge blue eyes and I just lost it. I do not know what the future has in store for Colt but I do know that he will be raised with parents who think he is the world to them. I wish I was better at expressing in writing exactly what I am trying to say but I know that if you are a mom you understand what I am feeling right now. I am so thankful for my husband and my new son and that God has given both of us such a wonderful gift!

Jaundice Baby

Colt has a touch of jaundice so the doctor told us to put him next to a window and get some sunlight for 15 minutes a day. He does not seem to mind it and usually sleeps through the entire thing. He has been nursing really well and has lots of pees and poops so I am sure it will be out of his system very soon!

A good night!

Our second night at home was much better. He woke at 12:00, 3:00 and 7:00 to eat. It was so nice to be able to get a solid 3 hours of sleep at one point. He is such a great baby so far and pretty easy going at this point. He always seems to be the most awake in the morning after he eats so I snapped these pictures this morning.

Some downtime

Already enjoying the binky.
Mom finally got a shower and got dressed! It only took her 3 days to do it.
Sleepin with daddy.
Colt went to the doctor yesterday for a check up. He is in the 95% for height and the 90% for weight. He has a little bit of jaundice that we have to keep an eye on but everything else looked great. We are loving every minute of being parents and Dave is dreading going back to work on Monday. Frankly, mom is dreading it too because he is such a big help!

Cousin Time

Cousin Camryn came to visit last night. She is 11 weeks old here and Colt is 3 days old. Its hard to tell from the pictures but both of them are 22.5 inches long! Colt just has a couple of pounds to make up and he will be as big as his cousin! He will have fun playing with her as they grow up.

Grandparents Time

Grandpa Mike
Mee-Maw
Mike and Julie drove to Walla Walla last night to see Colt again along with Uncle Andy, Aunt Kenzie and cousin Camryn. They could not believe how much he had changed in just 2 days!

First Night at Home

Why am I being wrapped so tight?

What are you doing with that thing daddy?

Still not sleepy yet.

Our first night at home was spent awake! Colt slept most of the day yesterday and in the evening took a 5 hour nap. I will not make that mistake again, once we were ready for bed he was not. I think he spent most of the night wanting to eat and eat and poop and eat. I need to get him on a better schedule during the day so he starts at least sleeping for a couple hours at a time during the night. Dave got up with him at 4:30 after I had fed him for like the 4th time and got him to fall asleep finally around 5:30 in his boppy cradle, then he did not wake again until 8:30 which means mom got a solid 3 hours of sleep. I could not do any of this without Dave, he has yet to complain about any of it and has been so helpful without me even asking.

Home at last!

Papa and Colt
My dad came over this evening and made us a yummy fish dinner with fresh corn on the cob, salad and strawberry shortcake! He then spent the majority of the time fighting with my mom over who gets to hold Colt.

Relaxin in his boppy cradle, it vibrates and plays music. He must have slept like this for 2 hours! When we got home from the hospital it was about 90 degrees here and our air conditioner did not work. It was not fun trying to feed him and be that hot, Dave called someone and we got it fixed but it was still a hot day. He did not seem to mind he slept through most of it!

My sweet little baby boy! Look at those chubby cheeks.
This is my friend Audra with Colt, she came over tonight with her diaper bag just in case we needed anything:) She bought her own diaper bag for him and filled it with all sorts of baby supplies since she is planning on being around a lot to help me! It was pretty funny, her first question to me is " Well I bought this baby applesauce so when do you think he can eat it?"

Leaving the hospital

Colt is ready to go home! His daddy has strapped him in nice and tight.

Mom looks a bit tired but dad looks good and that is Colt in the carseat!

We left the hospital today just a little before 10 this morning. We have not slept much in the last two nights so I know we are going to be really tired tonight but at least we will have our own bed to sleep in.

Colt Mires Pemberton

Colt Mires Pemberton arrived June 25th at 7:37 pm weighing 8lbs 9oz and 22.5 inches long.

Dad and Colt have already bonded.

This was taken about 3 hours after he was born.

Mom and Colt, he is about 1hour old here.

I went into the hospital Monday morning at 6 and by 10 I was in full blown labor. At about 4:00 I finally gave in and got an epidural at that point I was 4cm dialated. My dr. came in at 6:00 and checked me and I was ready to push! I pushed for about an hour and a half and we had our little boy. This entire experience has been such a rush of emotions for me and Dave but it has been so wonderful. I can not imagine loving anything (except my husband) as much as I love this little guy. So far he is doing great, he has taken to breastfeeding very well and we are at home and trying to figure out a routine. Thanks so much to all of you for your many calls and messages, I will try and return all of them as we get settled. In the mean time keep checking back here and I will continue to update photos.

40 weeks and counting

Hopefully these are the last pictures of my pregnant belly that I will have to post. If this baby does not come by the end of this week I will be posting pictures of me crying! Dave took these before we left for church this morning, since we are both assuming he will be here this week we have spent the entire sunday in "date" mode. We started the day by going out to breakfast followed by church, after that we went to the movie "Knocked Up" which seemed somewhat appropriate considering I will probably be going through that same thing in the next couple days. Of course after the movie I wanted an ice cream cone so we went and got some ice cream. Dave does not know it yet but I am taking him on a nice long walk tonight, I am sure he will be thrilled when I tell him:) My plan is not to post again until I have a baby to show everyone, please pray that it will happen soon and that everything will go smoothly and we will be healthy.!

Ann and her mini-me Reese.

My sister came to Walla Walla this past week for a visit with the twins. They are now 10 weeks old and are starting to smile. They are both so sweet and precious. It was the first time they had left Spokane since they were born and they both did really well. They are anxiously awaiting their cousins arrival which should be any day now.

One week to go!

This picture was taken when I was 36 weeks pregnant.
I have had this hope all along that maybe this little guy would come early but here I am at 39 weeks and still no baby! I went to the doctor today, I am 2cm and 50% effaced a big progression from last week where I was barely 1cm. She tried to schedule an induction for this week but the hospital was full tomorrow and wednesday and she already had a scheduled c-section for Thursday so we were out of luck! I will see her again next Monday and if I still have not had him then she will most likely induce me sometime next week. At any rate I feel pretty confident that in the next two weeks I will be holding my new son. I can not believe that its almost here, I feel like I have waited for so long and now its finally going to happen! In the meantime I am going to continue trying all the "labor tricks" and see if I can get something to happen this week.

A couple of pics and an update

Nope that's not my baby! We had a baby shower for my friend Jill Meliah who is due at the end of July last weekend and this is my friend Jill Carter's little girl Peyton who was born in April and my good friend Audra.

Jeni, Me and Audra. We have been friends since 8th grade. This was taken at Jill's shower as well and Jeni is Jill's sister.
UPDATE
I have not posted in awhile but though I would give everyone an update on what is going on. We had an ultrasound when I was 37 weeks pregnant to get a look at his size, they estimated him to be about 6lbs 14oz and my doctor said they gain about an ounce a week after 36 weeks. That means if I carry him to my due date he will be 8.5-9lbs depending how accurate the ultrasound was. I knew all along he was not going to be small I just hope the ultrasound was pretty close to accurate because I do not want to be delivering a 10lb baby!! I go back to the doctor on Monday and she is going to talk to us about if we should go ahead and induce within the next week and a half or if I just want to wait a little bit longer to see if it will happen naturally. I have been doing everything I can think of to try and start labor but nothing works. My good friend Audra has been waking up at the crack of dawn with me to walk for 2 hours before work starts everyday, I have been mowing our lawn weekly with our push mower, doing some yardwork, helping Dave work on the buildout at our building, squats, jumping jacks, last week I even went over to Audra's dad's house and I jumped on his trampoline! All of this has resulted in maybe a total of 3 braxton hicks contractions a day. The last day of school was this past Thursday and now I am even more anxious to have him so I do not have to waste a minute of my summer break without spending time with him. I will try and update with a better pregnancy picture soon.
