Summer Fun!

We had some fun over the weekend and went to Kennewick to spend some time with Dave's family. Randee graduated from CBC (and will be going to the University of Washington in the fall!!) so we had a celebration dinner for her Friday afternoon at Dave's parents house. It is starting to really feel like summer and the kids wasted no time getting there swimsuits on and playing in the water.

That evening we stayed the night at Dave's parents and Camryn stayed with us, I took Colt, Cam and Jax and we walked to Yoplicity for some frozen yogurt. It was pretty entertaining walking with them, I had the double jogger so two kids would ride and one would walk and then we switched off about every quarter mile. It's probably a mile or 1.5 mile walk and the kids did awesome. On the way home Jax told me that he had to pee but only wanted to pee at Memah's house so I made Camryn sit in front of Colt's feet and started running home (in flip flops). Camryn was hilarious yelling "she's running, she's running" and then tried to convince me to just let go of the stroller on a downhill so they could go even faster. Yes the girl is crazy, way more of a risk taker than any of my boys.

The next morning we had a early Father's day breakfast at Dave's parents then all the guys went golfing and the girls and kids went over to Kenzie and Andy's to swim in their pool. It was 90 degrees and perfect swimming weather. The kids swam hard all day long and then we had a nice bbq when the guys all got back from golfing. Colt and Cam were in the pool until about 5:00 that night, he fell asleep about 2 minutes after we left their house around 6:00.

He LOVED the water and kept throwing a fit when I took him out. The water was fairly cold too but felt good with the heat. He kept putting his face in the water and coming back up and smiling at me.

We put the pack-n-play out by the pool and I put Case in it for part of the time we were swimming. I tried to just hold him but he kept wanting down and then trying to crawl into the pool head first. Surprisingly, he was pretty happy in here and had fun watching everyone swim.

Colt Soccer Camp

Colt had told me that he wanted to play soccer in the fall but I wanted to make sure he would like it before I signed him up. The YMCA had a summer soccer camp from 9-10 all this past week and Colt had so much fun, I went ahead and signed him up for next fall. The first day he was not really sure what to expect and I had to talk to him afterwards about making sure he was always working hard, hustling and not walking during drills. After the first day though he really got into it and was running all over the field, it was fun to see him out there running around with his "friends" and having fun. They had the camp at Sharpstein Elementary which was perfect for me because they have an awesome playground.  Jax and Case had fun playing on the toys while Colt was practicing which made the time go by very fast.

Case is walking, he still falls quite a bit and is much faster crawling but he is getting better everyday.

Boys Birthday Party

With all the activities and busyness of everyone's schedule this summer I decided to have one big birthday party for all three boys. All three of their birthday's fall within a month of each other so I figured it would be easier for both families if they only had to make the trip to Walla Walla once. I had planned a big outdoor water party with water balloons, water guns, slip-n-slide and a pinata. However, it poured the entire day of the party so we only got to do the pinata. I was a little stressed with having so many people in our not so big house but it turned out fine. All the kids had so much fun and played so nice together, the men sat in the room with the television and watched the NBA basketball game and the ladies sat in the sitting room and had some nice conversations. I kept the food simple and we did gourmet hotdogs (from Costco), baked beans, fruit platter, chips and a shrimp salad that my mom made. The kids ate, played upstairs in the boys room and had fun with the pinata (the rain slowed enough so we could at least go outside and do that). I don't have very many pictures because my camera battery died.

 My mom made the cake pops for the kids and strawberry rhubarb pie for the adults. It was so nice to have her help with all the desserts and the salad.

The biggest gift for the boys was their new teeter-totter. They literally probably spend a couple hours a day on this and are constantly begging me to play with them on it. Colt and Jax get on one side together and I get on the other side and we play all sorts of imaginary games on it. Not only does it go up and down but it goes in a circle too and then love it when we pretend that it is a boat and we are going to travel somewhere (Alaska, Mexico, Spain, New York). The boys yell something like "shark" or "pirate" and then we start going faster and faster to get away from them. Even with the two of them on the other side they still weigh less than me so pretty much I do all the work, it is a pretty good leg workout.

Jax turned 3 today!!

I decorated the entry way so when he came down the stairs he would know it was his birthday. He was pretty excited about the bike (we found it on craigslist!).

He opened his presents from Dave and I before I left for work, Jax is usually not awake until a couple hours after I leave the house so we had to wake him up so I could watch him open his gifts too.

He got a Thor hammer (which he has been talking about non-stop for the last couple days) and some bubbles.

Papa and DiDi came over last night to give him his birthday box since they would not get to see him today.

Of all the goodies in the box he was most excited about the fruit snacks.

Dave took half a day off of work and we drove over to Tri-Cities to pick Colt up at the airport and then went over to Andy and Kenzie's to swim and have dinner. It was only about 75 today and very overcast but that did not stop the kids from getting in the pool. That water was COLD!

After dinner we had cake. I made him a cake batter ice cream cake with Captain America on top.

It was kind of a hectic day and I felt like Jax was pretty crabby for a lot of it. I feel bad that it was not as fun for him as it should have been. I think not having Colt around for the first part was hard for him and then when Colt did get back he was pretty wound up from his trip and a lot of the focus was on him. 

Since Colt has been gone the past week it has been really fun for me to get some more one-on-one time with Jax, he is such a sweet kid and really really funny. He loves playing outside, going on runs and walks with me, walking by himself in stores, wrestling with Dave, playing chase and hide-n-seek, talking to Colt and making Case laugh. We love our Jaxers!

Case had his one year appointment today, it was a pretty easy visit since it was just Jax, Case and I. The doctor was a little concerned with his weight just because he keeps dropping percentages every time he has an appointment. In fact he didn't gain any weight from his 9 month appointment. I am still nursing him but have started to wean him to only morning and night feedings. He is drinking whole milk from a sippy cup and we also tried peanut butter which he loved. She said to just make sure he is eating and since he is growing in other areas fine (height and head circumference) there is nothing we are going to do about it for now. He is not a picky eater and will eat just about anything I give him. He only has 2 teeth which makes it harder for him to eat a lot of solids but he still does pretty well. He is wearing 12-18 month clothing, size 3 diapers and is now binky free. I felt bad taking it away from him but I always took the binky away from the older boys at 1 and it worked just fine. For the most part he does great without it but the car rides can still be a little tough when he gets fussy. He started taking small steps on his birthday and is now able to stand up from the floor by himself. He is starting to say a lot more words and loves to shriek when the older boys take something from him. He is constantly moving, crawling and climbing things. He sleeps 11-12 hours at night and takes one 2 hour nap each day.
