I'm Gonna Miss This

Driving home tonight this song came on the radio. The lyrics made me cry, for some reason I have become much more sentimental since becoming a mom. This song really touched me though because I can remember going through those same emotions in high school, college and when Dave and I got married. Always wanting time to go faster, to get to the next great thing in life. Now I just want it to slow down, Colt is already 7.5 months old. What happened to that little boy who would fall asleep on my chest in the early morning hours, the little boy who would wake me up with his sweet little moans in the middle of the night when he was hungry. While I do enjoy sleeping through the night again I still miss those times already, just knowing that it will never be like that again makes me sad and joyful all at the same time. My little boy is getting bigger but he still has a lot of growing to do before his mom will no longer be the center of his world. How do parents handle there kids growing up and leaving them? It makes my heart break to think of Colt going to school, college, getting married. Though these things are still a long way off if he continues to grow at this rate it will all go by very quickly.....
Your Gonna Miss This- Trace Adkins
She was staring out the window of that SUV
Complaning, saying "I can't wait to turn 18"
She said "I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules"
Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school
Then she kissed her head and said "I was just like you"

Chorus: You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by
He tells her "It's a nice place"
She says "It'll do for now"
Starts talking about babies and buying a house
Daddy shakes his head and says
"Baby, just slow down"

Chorus

Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater
Dog's barkin', phone's ringin' One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin'
She keeps apologizin'
He says "They don't bother me.
I've got 2 babies of my own.
One's 36, one's 23.
Huh, it's hard to believe, but ...

Chorus

OMG Care....I just got back from being gone since last Wednesday and I can't believe what you went through last week. It's that time of year and it doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon, huh? I hope this week brings you better things. You are the best mom ever, Colt is sooo lucky!

Its so true I want to be able to stop time whenever I want. But let it go so much more slowly. I swear that its going faster then ever now that we all have kids. I dont even want to think about how fast their all gonna grow up.

My daughter will be FOUR!! You have NO idea how bad that scares me. And how much I miss the days when she fit on my chest... the times she nuzzled into me and I rocked her to sleep.... the days before she could tell me no. Ha! they change so fast. I've not heard the song before, but I guess I'll have to give it a listen.
